MENDOTA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TO JOIN OSF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

OSF Healthcare System (“OSF”) and Mendota Community Hospital (“MCH”) have signed an affiliation agreement that will result in MCH joining OSF pending approval from the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Review Board. MCH is expected to join OSF next spring. The announcement comes after nearly four months of due diligence, a process which validated the benefits of the affiliation to the communities they serve. “We are excited to partner with OSF HealthCare. This affiliation will further enhance our ability to provide excellent care to our patients,” said Judy Christiansen, Interim CEO of MCH. “The new affiliation will ensure that our community has local access to high quality and cost effective health care services for many years to come.”

Recently, the NFL has put domestic violence in the media spotlight. When a video showing Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice, punching his fiancé became public, he was suspended indefinitely from the NFL.-1 More stories and debate about domestic violence continue to surface, raising questions about what kind of consequences athletes should face for physically abusing their family members. The NFL’s problems show that domestic violence cuts across all segments of society; even wealthy athletes can perpetuate the cycle of domestic violence.

National Depression Screening Day raises awareness and screens people for depression and mood disorders and allows individuals to identify warning signs and connect with the appropriate treatment resources. Similar to many physical illnesses, early recognition and treatment offers the best opportunity for recovery from mental illness.
